JESUS IS COMING
BACK

Jesus-is-Coming-Back

INTRODUCTION

Jesus is coming back is not a myth but a reality as we witness the sign of the times that is being presented worldwide through electronic means. Jesus, in speaking to the religious of His day noted: You can discern the face of the sky but can you not discern the signs of the times (Matthew 16:3).

The Pharisees and Sadducees, whom He was addressing, could look up into the sky and make some probable guesses as to whether the weather would be good or bad but failed to discern the signs of the time identified in God’s Word. They were seeking an additional sign from heaven; but Jesus said it is a wicked and adulterous generation that seeks after a sign, and there shall be no sign given it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah (Matthew 16:4).

Jesus is Coming Back
Call to Repentance

The Prophet Jonah pronounced doom to a city whose wickedness had came up to God. Jonah was instructed to go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it, the preaching (message) that God had given him, and as Jonah began to enter into the city, a day’s journey, he cried out, yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown (God’s Judgment Unleashed) (Jonah 3:1-4).

The people of Nineveh, from the greatest of them to the least of them believed God, and were called upon to turn from the violence that was in their hands. Scripture reveals: God saw their works, that they turned away from their evil way; and God repented (relented) of the evil, that he had said that he would do to them; and did it not (Jonah 3:10).

It was noted that God did not change in His ultimate intention toward the Ninevites; rather they changed in their attitude toward Him.  On the basis of that change, God could deal with them in grace, rather than in judgment as their failure to repent would have necessitated.

Evilness of Man
Elevated

The fact that Jesus is coming back, closer than one may realize, is evidenced by changing times in these latter days. We are seeing an amassing of evilness as man elevates himself above God, lacking any fear of God, as in the pre-Flood days of Noah, Sodom and Gomorrah, and Babylon the hold of every foul spirit, all of which God’s judgment was swift.

We are witnessing a global effort towards control and dominance; thank God for those who are in opposition, but has it become as noted by Noah H. Mick in a sermon titled "Little Foxes": Those who have been responsible has not been watchful enough and let the little foxes creep into the vineyard and now they are so numerous and big that they cannot be driven out by ordinary methods of teaching and warning, for they well-nigh have possession of the vineyard.

Is the Church Ready

Jesus is coming back is the church ready?  Apostle Paul noted that Christ loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify (set it apart) and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:25-27).

Thank God for faithful saints of God who have not allowed the cares of this world to tint their relationship with the Lord.  Thank God for those who have walked away from unhealthy relationships with the world. Apostle Paul wrote: Be not conformed to this world; but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2). However, not all will have allowed God’s Word to make them a ready candidate.

Watch and Be Ready

Sixty

Jesus is coming back sooner than one may think.  The sense of Jesus’ soon return is sharper than ever before as one witnesses a chain of events that coincide with His return.  As previously mentioned, the Pharisees and Sadducees were seeking after a sign, when it was all ready available through God’s Word.

As we witness events unravel as foretold in God’s Word, in these latter days, it verifies the fact that Jesus is coming back (His Second Coming), Jesus said: Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of Man (Jesus) comes (Matthew 25:13); revealing that Jesus is coming back, His instruction is to watch and be ready.

Parable of the Ten Virgins

Jesus conveyed in The Parable of the Ten Virgins the need to be ready: He spoke of the five virgins who were wise and five foolish.  They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them; the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps; at midnight there was a cry made, behold the bridegroom (Jesus) comes; go you out to meet him.

All those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps; and the foolish said to the wise, give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out, but the wise answered, not so, lest there be not enough for us and you; but go rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves (Matthew 25:1-9).

Upon return, they found the door had been closed, and cried out, Lord, Lord, open to us.  But he answered and said; I know you not.  It was too late for the five foolish virgins who were not prepared to meet him.

Apathy in the Word

The fact that Jesus is coming back has been pushed aside due to apathy in the world; as mentioned by Jesus: As it in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man (Jesus return), they did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

Likewise as it was in the days of Lot, they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.  Even shall it be in the day when the Son of man (Jesus return) is revealed (Luke 17:26-30).

How many today are preaching Jesus is coming back; be you ready for in such an hour as you think not He comes?  Apathy in the world, seeking the pleasures of this world; instead of the manna from on high, God-given nourishment, with many found indulging in the world of sin, rather than remain unspotted from the world, and sanctified in the Lord.

Coming for His Church

Deliverance-from-Ungodly-Influence

Jesus is coming back was noted by Apostle Paul, in speaking to the church: The times and the season you have no need that I write to you; for yourselves know perfectly (having been informed) that the Day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.  When they shall say peace and safety; then sudden destruction come upon them, as travail (labor pains) upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

But you (the believers) are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.  You are all the children (sons) of the day; are not the night, nor of darkness.  Therefore let us not sleep, as do others (unaware) but let us watch and be sober (self-controlled) (1 Thessalonians 5:1-6). For God has not appointed as to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, whether we wake, or sleep, we should live together with him (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10).

Jesus' Second Coming

It was noted that throughout both Old and New Testaments, they reveal a literal, physical (bodily), and visible return of Christ to this earth to establish His kingdom and rule for a thousand years (referred to as the millennial reign).  The greatest theme of all Bible prophecy is the Second Coming of Christ.

The Prophet Jude revealed a prophecy identifying the fact that Jesus is coming back (His Second Coming) in that the Lord comes with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convince (convict) all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard (harsh) speeches which ungodly sinners have spoke against him.

Apostle John wrote of the revelation of Jesus’ wrath upon mankind, in His Second Coming, as King of kings, and Lord of Lords.  His First Coming was the role of Savior of the World; however, in His Second Coming, John wrote will a great day of his wrath; and who shall be able to stand (Revelation 6:17)?

Denying Jesus' Return

The Apostle Peter wrote: There shall come in the last days (which we are in) scoffers (mockers), walking after their own lusts (desires), saying, where is the promise of his (Jesus’) coming? Since the fathers fell asleep (died), all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

For this they willingly are ignorant of (forget), that by the Word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water; whereby the world that then was (pre-Flood days of Noah) perished.

The heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against (until) the day of judgment and perdition (destruction) of ungodly men (2 Peter 3:3-7).  One is treading on thin ice if they allow deception, and fleshly desires to reign, rather than God’s Word.
