INTRODUCTION
Hidden agenda of today forestalls truth being promulgated as a constructive path to follow rather than embracing deceit and dishonesty. There are many devices being utilized to enhance such agenda through mainstream media, social media, and other venues that endears one to the desired path of the originator, with the truth being sidetracked.
Deception is not a new thing as its origin began in the Garden of Eden, through the serpent, whose persuasive methods induced Eve to partake of what God forbid (Genesis 3:6). The hidden agenda of today is being introduced in such a manner to cover up its real intent, and as damaging as when Eve accepted the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:6).

Array of Ungodliness
There is an array of ungodliness (sinfulness) being promoted with its hidden agenda to entrap, ensnare, and enslave one to its evil devices; promoted as healthy for the soul, when in reality (unless repentance enters into the picture) will bring the Judgment of God. It was noted that sin will do three things in one’s life: It will take you where you never intended to go; it will keep you longer than you intended to stay; and it will cost you more than you intended to pay. Sin (ungodliness) is costly business that separates people from God.
Hidden agenda of today paints a pretty picture making sin appear attractive without revealing its true nature. Apostle Paul wrote: The wages of sin (ungodliness) is death (physical as well as spiritual) but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 8:23). The choice lies with each individual as to where their final destiny will be.
Deliverance from Evil
The Psalmist David revealed his prayer for deliverance from evil men, in saying: The proud have hid a snare (hidden a trap) for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins (traps) for me (Psalm 140:5). It was noted that they used artful methods to ensnare David; they lay in wait for him, to seize him, with insidious and secret ways to trap him. The hidden agenda of today; the ungodliness of man attempts to ensnare, through addictive measures, holding one fast to its influence.
David turned to the Lord for deliverance: I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry (prayer). He brought me up out of a horrible pit (attempted destruction), out of the miry clay (attempting to hold him there), and set my feet upon a rock (salvation), and established my steps (goings) (Psalm 40:1-2). The hidden agenda of today will not reveal the pathway of deliverance; rather encouragement to remain in bondage to its devastating affect.
Hatred on Display
Scripture reveals: He that hides hatred with lying lips (hidden agenda of today being manifested), and he that utters a slander, is a fool (Proverbs 10:18). It was noted that lying lips hide hatred; pretends to be a friend but inwardly nourishes and cherishes hated, which is covered or concealed.
Character assassination then plays into the picture, in which a person is openly defamed in a public manner, with a multitude of words that would attempt to destroy one’s good name and reputation. The hidden agenda of today waits an opportunity to promote such activity; that would defame an opponent, who is promoting an opposing agenda. We are witnessing this in many lands through modern day electronic means that bring coverage many thousands of miles away to one’s door step.
Nothing Hide
Scripture reveals: Fear them not; for there is nothing covered (veiled) that shall not be revealed; and hid that shall not be known (Matthew 10:26). It was noted that one is to be not afraid of reproaches and reviling which may be covered (through hidden agenda of today) with pretenses but will be made manifest.
We are presently witnessing, in many nations, a show of chaos and disunity. Apostle Paul warned: If you bite and devour one another, take heed that you be not consumed one of another (Galatians 5:15). Hidden agenda of today is being utilized to dwarf acceptance of truth and enhancing a desired slant being disguised as the truth. We are witnessing a minority being presented as a majority, through boisterous and chaotic disruptions. They have become as a fine-tuned instrument that has become skilled in deception; addicted to deceit, with hidden agenda being camouflaged to obtain a desired goal. We are witnessing names and abbreviations being utilized to hide the truthfulness of what is being presented.
Deception is being wisely crafted towards gain of what under normal circumstances would be rejected. We are witnessing the reporting of supposed facts without any concrete proof of what is being revealed. Thank God for factual reporting of events and happenings. Thank God for those who will seek out the truth through reliable sources to offset the hidden agenda of today that would produce lies and unconfirmed facts.
Fires of Freedom
It was noted that if the fires of freedom and civil liberties burn low in other lands, they must be made brighter in our own. If in other lands, the press and books and literature of all kinds are censored, we must redouble our effort here to keep them free. If in other lands the eternal truths of the past are threatened by intolerance, we must provide a safe place for their continuation (Franklin D. Roosevelt).
Words of encouragement towards keeping alive the fires of freedom and civil liberties when the hidden agenda of today would threaten such. We are witnessing many nations seeking domination on a global front; that would seek to stamp out freedom. Thank God for nations, and individuals, who seek to keep alive the liberties presently enjoyed because of their persistence in preventing such from happening.
Practice to Deceive
One man noted: What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive (Walter Scott). Hidden agenda of today, due to electronic devices, are enhancing those words. Apostle Paul wrote: Henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with the wind of doctrine, by the sleight (trickery) of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive (Ephesians 4:14) Let no man deceive you with vain (empty) words (Ephesians 5:6).
Hidden agenda meant to deceive; rather than capitalize on the truth, and is being promulgated today and becoming acceptable. Scripture reveals: There is a way that seems right unto a man; but the end thereof are the ways of death (Proverbs 14:12). The Psalmist David wrote: The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords (Psalm 55:21).
Global Conflict
There are those that seek domination with hidden agenda of today to captivate on desired goals. There is enhancement of evil rather than good to accomplish such means. The Prophet Isaiah revealed a time that evil would be called good and good evil; that one would put darkness for light and light for darkness; bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter; those who would be wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight (Isaiah 5:20).
We are witnessing this in the political realm in many countries, as well as some churches, allowing evil to become acceptable rather than the Unadulterated (Pure) Word of God. One man noted that the church use to set an example for the world, but now the world is setting the example for the church. We are witnessing an attempt to gobble up one another, as never before, despite Apostle Paul’s warning: Take heed that you be not consumed one of another (Galatians 5:15).
Peace in a Troubled World
We are witnessing those who strive to end world conflicts through peace offerings; but the hidden agenda of today oftentimes does not reveal the true motive behind acceptance. Peace is defined as freedom from disputes (which begin with Cain and Able in the Old Testament - Genesis 4:8).
Peace is the absence of mental stress or anxiety, a state of quiet or tranquility, a true and lasting peace that can only come from the Peace-Giver, Jesus Christ, who said: Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27).
When one listens to reports, of troublesome times, they can become fearful if not anchored in the peace of God through the Lord Jesus Christ. Apostle Paul wrote: Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). Again, the only true source of peace is through the Peace-Giver, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Salvation of the Soul
Hidden agenda of today would attempt to dwarf any attempt to seek salvation of the soul; instead placing pleasure seeking activities to outshine God’s continued provision for mankind through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
God’s love was clearly demonstrated at Calvary when His Son died for our sins. Scripture reveals: God so loved the world (you and I), that he gave his only begotten Son (one of a kind), that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Apostle Paul wrote: Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord (the Lord Jesus Christ) shall be saved (Romans 10:13).
