ELEVATING EVIL
AS GOOD

Elevating-Evil-as-Good

INTRODUCTION

Elevating evil as good is a trait that existed in the pre-Flood days of Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah.  The Prophet Isaiah foretold of continuation: Woe to them that call evil good and good evil; that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.  Woe to them that are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight (Isaiah 5:20-21).

The implantation of such thoughts is in direct opposition to the Unadulterated (Pure) Word of God which condemns such activity. The continued effort towards fulfilling what Isaiah prophesied against will ensure the judgmental side of God being exercised; unless repentance comes into the picture.

Elevating Evil as Good
Fate of Such

Apostle Peter revealed the fate of those in the pre-Flood days of Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah, writing: God spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eight person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly (pre-Flood days of Noah).

Turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow (destruction), making them an example to those that after (afterward) should live ungodly; and delivered just Lot, vexed (oppressed) with the filthy conversation (conduct) of the wicked; for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed (tormented) his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds (2 Peter 2:5-8).

Thank God for those who are not supportive of the prime reason God’s destruction came upon Sodom and Gomorrah (Homosexuality). Today there is an expansion of Sodom and Gomorrah activity that includes same-sex marriage and transgenderism that attempts to alter God-given traits towards mankind which does not include such traits; rather condemns any alteration of His Word.

No Shame

Prophet Jeremiah in speaking the words of the Lord: Were they ashamed when they committed abomination? No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush; therefore they shall fall among them that fall (God’s judgment); at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord (Jeremiah 6:15).

We find that those who promote ungodliness do so with pride rather than shame.  Jeremiah message from God was in reference to Judah’s moving in ungodly ways, having no fear of God, with impending judgment if repentance was not forthcoming.  There are those today who are elevating evil as good, openly displaying such as the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden which was made attractive and desirable (Genesis 3:6).

Laxity in Preaching

The term evil denotes morally objectionable behavior that would cause harm or destruction or misfortune; having the quality of being morally wrong, the nature of vice, and exhibiting bad moral qualities rather than good.  Having such a nature is to note one as morally corrupt, wicked, of evil conduct, thoughts, heart, and words; producing sorrow, distress, injury, calamity, and the Judgment of God.

When there is a laxity of preaching God’s Unadulterated (Pure) Word, elevating evil as good can readily play into the picture as acceptable rather than destructive.  Apostle Paul wrote: Being made free from sin, we become servants (dedicated) to God, and have our fruit unto holiness (godliness). For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 66:22-23).

Umbrella of Protection
Lifted

Calm-in-the-Storm

Elevating evil as good has placed many former godly nations adrift from God; with His umbrella of protection and provision lifted, unless repentance comes on the scene.  However, God has made a provision towards a return to Him.

Scripture reveals: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).  While this was originally given to the nation of Israel, in the days of King Solomon, it is applicable to any who will call upon the name of the Lord with a repentant heart.

New Cultural Drift

The term good is that of moral excellence; promoting and enhancing well-being, success, welfare; not bad, corrupt, evil, offensive or troublesome traits of an evil nature; that are allowed to elevate and prosper without reproach or corrective action.  Thank God for those who are opposing such a stand of unrighteousness; and are declaring the righteousness of God.

The church is not immune to embracing the ungodly features of a new culture drift elevating good as evil.  Apostle Paul attempted to dwarf such in writing: You, who teach another, teach not yourself? You that preach a man should not steal, do you steal? You that say a man should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You that abhor idols, do you commit sacrilege? You that make boast of the law, through breaking the law, dishonor not God (Romans 2:21-23)?

Culture Increasingly
Hostile

We live in a culture that is increasingly hostile to God with many dismissing God from their lives. It was noted that no individual, and no nation, will be good without God.  Nations ancient and modern have been wicked and cruel, and have inflicted unspeakable misery on humankind because they rejected the one true living God.   Where there is no fear of God, no reverence for God, every evil can and will abound. The idea that we humans will be good without God is a deceptive fallacy.

When people are devoid of the knowledge and wisdom that come from believing God and having reverence for Him, they become morally corrupt, exceedingly evil, violent and destructive.  Elevating evil as good opens Pandora’s Box of evils.

In Greek mythology a story is told of a box sent by the gods to Pandora, which she was forbidden to open. She opened the box out of curiosity that loosened a swarm of evil upon mankind; a prolific source of troubles. Many nations have witnessed such happening; thank God for individuals who are sounding the alarm towards betterment of the soul.

Sounding the Alarm

sound-the-alarm

Apostle Paul wrote: If the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself for battle (1 Corinthians 14:8)?  The custom of many nations, when about to engage in war, in biblical times, made use of the trumpet to gather the soldiers together to prepare for the battle, giving notice, with a sound of the trumpet sounding an alarm of war.

But if the trumpet gives an uncertain sound there would be no preparation for battle or even being aware for such a need.  Elevating evil as good should be an occasion for sounding the alarm, giving notice of impending battle of good over evil, rather than allow evil to flourish.

Love of Sinfulness

Scripture reveals: This is the condemnation, that light is come into the world (the Lord Jesus Christ), and men loved darkness (sinfulness) rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that does (practices) evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, let his deeds should be reproved (exposed) (John 3:19-20).

It was noted that many have become accustomed to the works of darkness (sinfulness), prevalent in many areas today, walking in their own way, in the vanity of their own minds, delighting in the company of those living in darkness, with no desire to follow Christ, who is the light of the world, or to receive the message of salvation.

Apostle Paul identified this in writing: If our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost (perishing); in whom the god of this world (Satan) has blinded the minds of them that believe not (the unsaved), lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them (2 Corinthians 4:3-4). It was noted that they are so controlled by Satan that he effectively shields them from the light of the Gospel of Christ.

Renewing of the Mind

Apostle Paul wrote: Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:1-2).

Elevating evil as good has flourished but its beckoning call does not have to be adhered to.  Scripture reveals: God so loved the world (you and I), that he gave his only begotten Son (born of a virgin who never knew man), that whosoever believes in him (the Lord Jesus Christ) should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
