INTRODUCTION
The revamping of society is bringing about changes towards domination that will promote destructive measures; casting aside “What Thus saith the Lord” towards the carnal side of man, walking away from the spiritual walk that once prevailed! Apostle Paul wrote: This know that in the last days (which we are in) perilous times shall come.
Men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous (money lovers), boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent (without self control), fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady (reckless), high-minded.
Lovers of pleasures more (rather) than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof, from such turn away (2 Timothy 3:1-5). Apostle Paul was pointing out the need to “turn away” or do not participate!
The Revamping of Society
A Permissive Day
We are witnessing perilous times due to walking away from the precepts of God’s Word; failing to promote godliness as before! It was noted that we are living in a very permissive day when the religious world is so tolerant to most any and all kinds of standards and lifestyles. This permissiveness and tolerance is the result of a self-willed and carnal minded society.
As a result of such tolerance and permissiveness, there are many churches, and even denominations, which have altered their teachings, their standards, and even their interpretations of the Scriptures to please, to comply with and accommodate this permissive and tolerant society. Very few people this day hold to their heart’s convictions; they change to blend in with their environment!
No Regard to a Day
of Reckoning
Laying down of the Law of God is not popular; neither was it in the day of the prophets of God, mentioned in the Old Testament, including Jeremiah. It was noted that it had to be difficult for Jeremiah always to be the bearer of bad news, and always being rejected. Jeremiah was continually mocked by the people for bringing nothing but words of condemnation.
Jeremiah's words enraged the people. He challenged their social and moral behavior. He held his ground and was not afraid to give them unpopular criticism. Today is the same; there are those who are giving humanity's vilest nature what they want to hear, justification to do exactly as they please with no regard to a day of reckoning!
Ungodliness Accepted
The revamping of society, to suit man, will bring popularity to those promoting such; while others proclaiming the truths of God’s Word suffer reproach! We are living in a period of time proclaimed by Jeremiah, in speaking the words of the Lord, saying: Were they ashamed when they committed abomination, no they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush, therefore they shall fall among them that fall; at the time that I visit (punish) them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord (Jeremiah 6:15).
The revamping of society has opened the door towards ungodliness being accepted, with no regard towards consequences for having done so; with a continuation unless realization comes into focus, through proclaiming the Unadulterated (Pure) Word of God, without compromise!
Turning Away from
the Truth
Apostle Paul declared the revamping of society in writing to Timothy, a young evangelist: The time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts (desires) shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall be turned into fables (that which is fictitious) (2 Timothy 4:2-4).
Despite this condition, Paul instructed Timothy: Preach the word; be instant (ready) in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine (2 Timothy 4:2); watch in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of your ministry (2 Timothy 4:5)! It was noted that preaching is the God-ordained means to prevent defection from the truth.
Teachers who appeal to itching ears tell people what they want to hear, not what they need to hear. A man of God was asked: If given an hour to explain the Gospel to someone, how would he do so? He said he would spend the first fifty minutes on the bad news of judgment and then the last ten minutes on the good news of salvation, because without the context of judgment one would not appreciate or even understand salvation.
Power and Control
The revamping of society has become contagious in many ways; one such way is the wealthy and powerful elite coming together to dominate and control society, with agenda being to facilitate power and control; one such organization identified is “The World Economic Forum” founded in 1971, and hosting meetings every year to promote life changing plans.
It was noted that it is supported by a vast international network of state and corporate leaders towards the global vision of the future. It utilizes global crisis(s) towards domination of every aspect of humanity. Another area of concern is Marxism and Socialism, cousins of Communism, sweeping many lands, with an attempt to dethrone God from society! It was noted that what comes to pass is not so much because a few people want it to happen, but because the mass of citizens abdicate their responsibility and allow it to happen!
Goals Established
Not only is there an influence rising through Socialism and Marxism; but a revamping of society, through such names as Critical Race Theory (CRT), Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) that would upset the normality of life. Included in this spin-off of evil is a drive to maintain legalized abortion, homosexuality, same sex marriage, and transgenderism as a way of life, though condemned in God’s Word!
Goals of the revamping of society are: Discredit family as an institution; control of the schools to use as tools for promoting ungodly agenda; eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them violation of free speech and free press; break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography in books, magazines, motion pictures, and TV; infiltrate the press, gain control of key positions in government, radio, TV, and motion pictures; infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with social religion, and discredit the Bible.
Promotion of Ungodliness
It is amazing that in a few relative short years, though long in the making, the revamping of society is literally taking place right before our eyes, with little outcry against it; but if so, outweighed by a greater outcry in favor of the ungodly agenda being promoted! Scripture reveals: The people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people; for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off (Ezra 3:13).
This was in regards to a new foundation being laid for the older temple that had been destroyed; those who had not witnessed the glory of the first temple were shouting for joy, while those who had witnessed the former glory of the first temple (50 years earlier) wept. The shouting for the revamping of society, towards the ungodliness of man, seems to be in the same category!
Avoid Social Evils
Apostle Peter, on the Day of Pentecost, warned one to avoid social evils, in saying: Save yourselves from this untoward (crooked) generation (Acts 2:40). He was warning of a perverse generation from whom wrath and ruin would fall; to separate from such, do not partake of their ways, but rather come out from among them!
Many today would lead one astray; if not grounded, and rooted, in God’s Word! God has provided His Spirit to lead and guide in all truth. Jesus said: You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free (John 8:32)! Man has evolved into a mold of acceptance of the previously unacceptable; deceiving many into believing a lie rather than the truth, covered with just enough truth to camouflage its deceptive nature!
Counsel of the Ungodly
The Psalmist, in sounding the alarm, cried out: Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly (wicked), nor stands in the ways of sinners (not to be entertained by their ways), nor sits in the seat of the scornful (hateful) (Psalm 1:1). It was noted that the ungodly are those who by nature practice ungodliness, without knowledge, fear, or worship of God and are at enmity against (oppose) Him; having cast about in their minds schemes, and contrived ways to accomplish their desired (ungodly) goals; even consulting together to accomplish their desired goals!
One is not to hearken to the counsel of the ungodly, not to give into it, agree with it, pursue it, nor act according to it. The way that seems right may not be the best or righteous way. Jesus said warned: Enter you in at the strait (narrow) gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many there be that go in thereat (Matthew 4:13).
Fate of the Ungodly
Prophet Isaiah, in speaking the words of the Lord, proclaimed: Hell has enlarged herself, and opened her mouth (a bottomless pit) without measure; and their (the ungodly) glory and their pomp (earthly gain), and he that rejoices (in much gain) shall descend into it (Isaiah 5:14).
Apostle John noted the fate of the ungodly: I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works (Revelation 20:12); and whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire (Hell) (Revelation 20:15).
Heaven to Gain
There is a heaven to gain (through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ) and a Hell to shun (previously identified)! Apostle Peter warned: Seeing you know these things, beware lest you also, being led away from the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness (2 Peter 3:17). Deception begin in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:3) and continues today!
The revamping of society has sought to downplay any avenue towards a godly society by promoting ungodliness as a way of life rather than a way of destruction. The connectivity of the internet, and other venues, have enhanced the immoral ways of society; with promotion at an all time high! God’s Word proclaims the ways of the righteous and unrighteous; the path one chooses will determine a heavenly gain or confinement in a place called Hell!
