Troublesome Times

Troublesome times have played into focus in America and other nations in the world. If one were to focus just on the media outlook, and other reports, it would be very distrubing and bleak indeed. Jesus spoke of a time that upon the earth there would be distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and waves roaring; men's hearts failing them for fear, and from looking after those things which are coming on the earth (Luke 21:25-26).

Matthew 14:22-27 reveals Jesus' disciples encountering great difficulty from a wind that was contrary. We find, even though we are believers in Christ, that at times there are events in our own life that attempt to overtake us. Human endurance, especially when mixed with faith, is amazing as it oftentimes goes beyond the norm. Troublesome times may be attempting to weigh one down, at this very moment, but God is attempting to reassure us of who's on the throne, and who is interceding on our behalf.

America in a Crossroads

America is facing a crossroads that may very well affect Christianity as never before experienced. One may have to draw on an inner faith that they never realized existed.

Our Lord spoke of two types of individuals: one who was a wise man which built his house on a rock: and when the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house: it fell not: for it was founded on a rock. The other was the one who was foolish, which built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it (Matthew 7:24-27).

Which category do you fall into? Do you trust in God so that when the floods come, and the winds blow, you will be able to withstand? I believe we shall see times that will seem beyond one's ability to cope, unless they are looking to the one who is called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).

Troublesome times will not gain an advantage over the one whose faith and trust are wrapped up in that of a loving Savior. He is concerned for your welfare, your trust, your ever abiding faith, that He may intercede on your behalf, as He has for countless thousands in the past, present, and will continue to in the future until He returns again.

Scriptural Insight

Scripture reveals that when the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him (Isaiah 59:19). The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. The righteous cry, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of their troubles. Many are the afflications of the righteous: but the Lord delivers him out of them all. O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusts in Him (Psalm 34). God's Word amply supplies words of encouragement, in the midst of troublesome times, to the one who will place their faith and trust in Him.
