God's Sustaining Power

God's sustaining power is amply in the times in which we live to see us through every hindering force that is placed before the believer in Christ. A prophecy given in 1982 displays God's sustaining power: "I know thy needs and I will answer thy prayers. I say unto thee that I am thy God that I will lead you and direct you. I never led you wrong, look up and I will lead you. Keep your hands fastened in my hands and you will not stumble and fall. I am the God of the universe. I know your goings and your comings and I say unto you that I will show you a more perfect way. I will lead you down that strait and narrow road. Oh, look to me, lift up your eyes, I am your redeemer, I live, I live, I live n your heart."

The Seed of Deception

We are experiencing a nation that is crumpling in its acceptance of the previously unacceptable. Certain ungodly practices and lifestyles are being promoted and even lawful in some states. America is flaunting its Creator and benefactor. It is allowing the seed of deception to be sown. It is racing towards a destructive nature as if there is no tomorrow and day of accountability.

Many minds have been demonized to their own destructive course. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold (or suppress) the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18-32). We are living in a generation that is busting at its seams with immorality flaunting God's Word. The infallible Word of God will prevail even when those who flaunt its intended purpose have long since gone on to meet their maker.

Opposition Compared to David and Goliath

We are living in a time when seemingly the forces of evil are prevailing in our culture and way of life. Opposition could be compared to that of David and Goliath. David did not waiver though all Israel cowered before the giant who raved and challenged them day after day as he defiled the armies of Israel.

Opposition may seem small in comparison to the Goliath's of this world, who threaten our status as "One Nation Under God," but through God's sustaining power victory can be assured as one stands fast in faith, as David, knowing of whom he served.

Unwaivering Faith of Some

I read of unwaivering faith in distant lands where persecution and suffering came simply by naming the name of Christ, through the Voice of the Martyrs monthly publication. In America we still have the freedom to worship, without fear of reprisal, but I believe such a venue will not continue forever as the forces of evil overtake this land. I believe that one day, and the reality of it is pressing in on us, we too will have to exercise our faith, as David, in the sustaining power of God.

In the Last Days - Perilous Times

Scripture reveals that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, without self-control, despisers of those that are good, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof: ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 3:1-5).

Scripture speaks of those who have erred (or strayed from the truth); and who have overthrown the faith of some but nevertheless, the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, the Lord knows those that are his. And, let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity (2 Timothy 2:18-19).

God's Word will stand the test of time when all else fails. We live in a time when many are attempting to set up their own guidelines ignoring the truth of the Gospel, to pattern their lives according to their own desires rather than line up with the Word of the living God. This does not alter what "Thus saith the Lord!"
