The Unknown God

The God of all creation still remains the unknown God to many of today. Scripture reveals that apostle Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, you men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious. For as I passed by, and beheld your objects of worship, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD, whom you worship without knowing, him declare I to you (Acts 17:22-23).

The Lord sent forth His ambassadors to proclaim His gospel throughout the world, and so it is today. The apostle Paul was fulfilling this great commission as he spoke on Mars' hill, as I, and many others are, through various websites, and other sources of broadcasting.

Gospel Proclaimed

When Paul proclaimed the gospel to those at Athens, some believed; some said we will hear again of this matter, and others mocked him. So it is today, in the fast pace world that we live in, where seemingly more important matters are attended to rather than the salvation of one's soul. The anointed Word of God will often knock at the door of one's heart, but for one reason or other that door is not opened, to allow the seed to be planted and nourished, by the Lord of the harvest.

One does not need to take the gospel lightly or make excuses towards non-acceptance. It is folly to trifle with the summons of the gospel. Scripture reveals that life is as a vapor, which appears for a little time, and then vanishes away (James 4:14). Acceptance of the life-giving message of the gospel is often treated in like manner; time comes and goes without a commitment being made.

As Jesus walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said to them, Come after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. And straightway they left their nets, and followed him (Mark 1:16-18). This summons was of a whole-life commitment. There was no hesitance on the part of Simon and Andrew only compliance with Jesus' invitation. I made that same commitment in 1978 in a little country church in Pungo, Virginia.
