A Choice of Destination
Destination is a place to which one is journeying to or which one is sent. God's Word is very graphic in choice of destination, either Heaven or Hell, depending on what is written in the books that shall be opened on the Day of Judgment.
In the Book of Revelations it reveals that John saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the
the lake of fire
(Revelation 20:12-15).
God's Desire for Us
Scripture reveals that God is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). God clearly expressed His desire for salvation to all who will trust in Him. Salvation is obtainable through repentance.
God's love toward us was clearly demonstrated at Calvary when Jesus, His only begotten Son, died for our sins, making an atonement for our sins, that through Him we might be saved. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13).
God has laid the foundation for salvation, through His Son, through His death and resurrection, and in Him only can one obtain eternal life. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under Heaven whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). The choice of our destination lies within each one of us.
A Blessed People
In Jesus' sermon on the mount He said: Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they that do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children (or sons) of God. Blessed are they, which are
persecuted
for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven (Matthew 5:1-12).
We are indeed a blessed people. We have already made the choice of our destination, after having heard the message of salvation, choosing to receive it rather than reject it. Now is the time to let our light so shine before men, that they may see Christ in us, and glorify our Father that is in heaven (Matthew 5:16). In these last days our productivity time should ever be increasing to see and pray that souls be ushered into God's kingdom through acceptance rather than rejection of God's greatest gift to mankind (John 3:16).
