A Cesspool of Iniquity

A cesspool of iniquity equates to that of immorality, full of wickedness, that which is offensive, evil, and wrong. This description is what we are seeing coming about in these last days as identified in the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:1-5).

There are those who are easily susceptible to these times. God's Word reveals that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron (1 Timothy 4:1-2). The moral life of such is scarred, often entering into their own cesspool of iniquity, yet they continue to minister to others.

There is a fallacy being generated within the church world, that promotes acceptability with very little seperation from the world being in evidence. Scripture readily identifies a separated walk unto the Lord, that one cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: one cannot be partakers of the Lord's table and the table of devils (1 Corinthians 10:21).

A New Set of Values

When one is born into the kingdom of God a new set of values is instilled, for one becomes a new creation in Christ: old things are passed away; all things become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). One sets their affection (or mind) on things above, not on things on the earth; they mortify (or put to death) fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection (or passion), evil desire, and covetousness. They put off anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of their mouth. They put off the old man with his deeds; and put on the new man, which is renewed in the knowledge of the image of him that created them (Colossians 3:2-10).

I am seeing a departure from the old paths as identified by the prophet Jeremiah. The people of Jeremiah's day were stubborn in their refusal to walk in the ways of true righteousness desirous to follow their own paths and their own preceived notions (Jeremiah 6:16). When one breaks away from the old path and instills a new set of values it is a recipe for disaster!

Old Values Cast Aside

A cesspool of iniquity has taken hold within this nation as old values are cast aside and new ones embraced. Unfortunately it has even infiltrated the church with compromise playing into focus. I do not see many contending for the old paths but rather yielding to a new set of values.

We have been a blessed nation because of our previously unshakeable foundation in God. But now destructive heresies have infiltrated our land, even our churches, and has had a devastating influence. Now is not the time to become complacent, giving credence to those who are presenting a different gospel to justify their own walk. We live in a time of deception unless one abides in the Unadultrated (or pure) Word of God.
