Catapult into Obscurity
Catapult into Obscurity denotes being propelled into a time of darkness, uncertainty, or dimness. When I was on a aircraft carrier I seen planes being catapulted off the flight deck to some distant destination; without the benefit of the catapult they would never have been able to depart the carrier under their own power.
We live in a nation that possibly will one day be catpulted into obscurity unless it departs from its devious ways and turns to the God of its creation. 2 Chronicles 7:14 is the message for the hour in which we live, for this nation, as well as others: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
This promise was originally given to King Solomon regarding the people of Israel, but is for us of today as well, to all who will call on the Lord in repentance and faith. God is willing, and ready to hear the prayers of a repentant people, as illustrated by those of Nineveh, who did just that and prevented their being propelled into obscurity.
A Spirit of Rebellion
But if you turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I set before you; then will I pluck you up by the roots out of my land which I have given you (2 Chronicles 7:19-22). The Book of Romans informs us that the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold (or suppress) the truth in unrighteousness (1:18).
We live in a society that seeks its own desired walk. It has embraced many of the traits that are contrary to God's Word, yet feels no remorse but rather pleasure in doing so. The fear of God is lacking in these lives as they pursue their heart's desire with no forethought as to what will be the cost. Our modern day culture has bathed itself in a spirit of rebellion against God. America has been swallowed up with seeds of deception, and I believe become a harlot in the sight of God. It has cast away its former moral foundation to be replaced with ungodly virtues.
Collapse of Economic System
In speaking of Babylon, in the Book of Revelations, it was reported that it had become the habitation of devils, and of every foul spirit. Her plagues were to come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she would be utterly destroyed by fire. For in one hour is her judgment come. And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her, for they shall buy her merchandise no more (18:8). They that were made rich by her shall stand afar off, saying, what city is like unto this great city, in one hour is she made a wasteland (18:18). A commentary suggested that at that moment the world's pagan economic system will have collapsed.
For a nation to catapult into obscurity is not impossible. The great Roman Empire crumpled, as other great nations have become obscure, or no longer of their former greatness. When a nation begins to erase God from the scene, unless repentance comes into focus, it stands in a judgment status.
Understanding the Will of God
God's Word clearly identifies how one should walk. One is not to have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but to rather reprove (or expose) them. See that you walk circumspectly (or carefully), not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be not unwise but understanding what the will of the Lord is (Ephesians 5:11-17).
It is not God's will that any be propelled into obscurity but rather to let their light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:16). Does one's walk bring glory to God and the Lord Jesus Christ? One is to cleanse themselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God (2 Corinthians 7:1). It is then that the Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God (Romans 8:16).
